The Duluth Huskies are 2-0 on the early season. The home opening series was good for our Huskies as they took on the St.cloud river bats Wednesday and Thursday night at Wade Stadium. The Huskies won both of the games and will now travel to St.Cloud to play one game there tonight, as they look for the sweep and move to 3-0 on the season.
Wednesday night the Huskies won 3-1 getting all three runs in one inning (4th I believe) if I remember correctly. The river bats scored there only run in the top of the 9th inning. Thursdays game was a bit more interesting, the huskies won 6-5 but it is how they won.
The game started with the Huskies taking a 1-0 lead at the end of one inning, however they got the run with out any hits in the inning. The lead of man was walked, then stoled second and the throw went into center field allowing him to move to third, well a play cam in to third the fielder lost the ball and the huskies runner scored. There where two errors by the river bats on that one play and they had four in the game.
With the four errors by the bats one would think that the Huskies should have won easy, well it did not happen that way. Huskies pitcher was cruising along then came the fourth inning. The river bats started hitting and got four runs that inning to take the lead. The huskies battled back all game and tied it with walks and hits in the 9th inning then the bases where loaded and huskies batter was hit by a pitch to walk in the winning run.
I must say I am pleased to this point by the huskies they found a way to win Thursday and that is what good teams do. Well the bats were slow only in the game they still plugged away and worked on the game. One person said to me at the game last night that the huskies need to start hitting. They will and when they do this team will be a great team I feel.
